swingin

We had a tire swing growing up. It was down a steep trail behind our house. There was a little playhouse cabin there too where my cousin Lori and I used to hide our treasures (I will save that for a different post).
The tire swing seemed like a good idea and I remember spending an awful lot of time down there - but unfortunately for us physics was not on our side. After a big push the tire would swing back and forth a couple times but eventually would circle back - right towards the trunk - slamming us against it. I distinctly remember putting my feet out - an effort to avoid a collision but it would only violently cause us to spin out of control. Oh those were the days.

Anyway, I installed a swing in our kitchen/hallway and the babies love it. It reminded me of those days - except that I try not to let the babies hit any walls or trees.

video

Try the video again posted below under "silly monkeys" - I fixed it.
Next up I will catch them as they steal toys from each other - it's great entertainment (for now). Here is a preview:

pumpkin patch

It's not just a novelty, it's a gift.
I promised them I won't take a moment for granted.
While it seems so trivial - packing up your offspring to pick out a large orange gourd to bring home - it's not. It was a beautiful day for us.

realization

Yesterday as I am putting the babies in the car another mom pulls up and yells out her window, "You deserve a medal"
Me: "oh...thanks"
Other mom: "no really it's a thankless job and you deserve thanks"
Me: "I appreciate that" (now please drive away)

Having twins has really cracked the world wide open. It's as if a sign on our stroller reads - Please comment on my situation.
(Are they twins, I am a twin, I want twins, do you ever sleep, boy your hands are full, how did you make it out of the house, is one evil, and the list goes on)

Don't get me wrong I am not complaining - it's just that it happens when we are out and about. All. Day. Long.

After being stunned with the realization we are responsible for these two - really responsible - the world suddenly became a scary, I-am-never-leaving-my-kids-out-of-my-sight kind of place. But, it also became a beautiful, friendlier, more gentle place where people smile so big at your babies hoping they smile back.

everything's coming up hudson

trip to north carolina

We had so much fun in North Carolina - we went to the zoo, the beach, the museum. Layla fell in love with Georgie the kitty.
The babies did great on the airplane. Eisenman kicked our butts in foosball but what else is new.
